Abstract

Ensuring user research is accessible isn’t just a checklist – it’s a mindset. But when you’re early in your journey, it can be hard to know if you’re getting it right. In this talk, Sharon shares what she’s learned from making accessibility a focus of her research practice.

From questioning assumptions to appropriate planning, she’ll reflect on the real-world challenges of creating more inclusive sessions and how to navigate them with confidence, empathy, and curiosity.

You’ll leave with practical tips you can apply right away, as well as broader strategies for advocating for accessibility in your team and organisation. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to deepen your practice, this talk offers encouragement, useful examples, and honest reflections to help you move forward.
